Can someone suggest how to perform USB data recovery?
Question by gf: Can someone suggest how to perform USB data recovery?
I use my Apple iPod Shuffle as a memory stick. It was working fine yesterday. Today, it asks to be formatted. Last thing that I did systems-wise was Windows Update, Java update and a couple of reboots while the stick was plugged in.
Below is what Disk investigator shows. Maybe hidden sectors is a clue that the data is still there.
Logical drive:
Size: 0 Mb (popularly 0 Mb)
Logical sectors: 0
Bytes per sector: 0
Sectors per Cluster: 0
Cluster size: 0
File system: UNKNOWN
Number of copies of FAT: 0
Sectors per FAT: 0
Root DIR Sector: 0
Root DIR Cluster: 0
Root DIR Entries: 0
2-nd Cluster Start Sector: 0
Ending Cluster: 0
Media Descriptor: 248
Root Entries: 0
Heads: 0
Hidden sectors: 294905205
SerialVolumeID: 00000000
Volume Label:
Tried downloading “encopy”, a data recovery software but when I click on the stick drive, it asks to be formatted. I can’t get in to attempt recovery.
Can someone provide a solution, please?

I don’t know how successful you’ve been so far, but the program that you mention appears to be a load of cack to me. Try MISPBO Ultimate Data Recovery, from the link below, and see if that’s any more use.
