Have you had pictures disappear from a Lexar SDHC card?

And if so, what photo recovery software did you use to recover them? I don’t know how my pictures got deleted but they’re just gone. Camera is a Canon Powershot SD 790 IS. Bought the card at Office Depot on sale. My ancient PC is maxed out on space, so the recovery has to be mac-friendly. Thanks in advance.
