Memory card error- recovery possible?
I have used the same memory card for a few years now. (SD 512mb by DANE-ELEC) I have filled the memory card several times and erased it and refilled it again. I recently took a lot of pictures yesterday and then it said memory card error and my pictures disappeared. I want to know if every picture that I have ever taken will be recovered if I use a program, or only the ones the I took recently. I would prefer to not have all of my pictures recovered from years ago, especially if I’m using this program with my photo professor.

Take no more pics until you’ve recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Use a card reader. Here’s some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you’re looking for. The third one listed lets you view thumbnails of the pictures before recovering:

It would be your most recent photos.
The problem may be that you have been deleting you images, rather than formatting the card. Fragments of previoius image files and image index files could have corrupted your card.
For now buy an nice new 2GB card ($14 this weekend) and use it until you can recover the files on your old 512 card.
In the future, format the card using the format feature on the cameras menu. This will refresh your card, write new file folders and a new image index file.
This recovery program works.:
