What On Earth Is Renault Up To In The Next Few Years?

Not long ago, Renault chose their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and they also introduced their plans for the next few years. The goal of the new director is somewhat hard: he has to make the Renault brand a powerful name in both Europe and America but the company also wants to penetrate the Chinese market, especially in the niche of SUVs.

Renault is also aggressively adding eco-friendly technology to their plants, including solar panels attached to the roofs at their French factories. The solar panel project is the biggest for the auto industry as the solar panels will cover 450,000 square meters and provide 60 megawatts of power that is certainly enough to power 20,000 homes.

The job will begin in June and is expected to be completed in February of next year. They want to reduce the amount of pollution in the environment. A second project similar to this was started by Seat and they have solar panels installed on their factories in Spain.

The company is also doing their best to rekindle trust after the industrial espionage. Renault is making every effort to be an attractive brand for the general public and do their best to promote high end cars. The espionage scandal has caused some damage to their image however it’s only part of their challenges. The top members of Renault also views their existing car designs are a bit out of step with todays consumers and they need to improve on it.

Revolutionary changes began to take place at the company when Renault hired Laurens van den Acker as chief designer. An illustration of this will undoubtedly be the next generation Clio with its state of the art electronics and improved body and engine.

Product sales of medium to deluxe cars for Renault have dipped somewhat from 150,000 in 2005 to 100,000 last year. As they work to create their modern line of cars, Renault must continue to profit from those cars that continue to sell well. The French media mentioned that Tavares needs to endeavor to even the discrepancy between the partnership with Nissan as Nissan has sold more than four million cars while Renault has sold just 2.6 million cars.

An additional concern that Renault has is the lack of presence in China but are trying to fix that between 2013 and 2016. In addition, they do not have pretty much any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. Although they currently dont have any plans to reenter the US market, they have been looking to maximize their positions in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but still manufacture for this market with newer and improved car models.

In summary, the intention of the firm is to grow the annual sales by more than 400 000 units but this goal can only be achieved if the company brings new design innovations with their existing and upcoming line of cars.
